Anderhalve week, heeeeeeeeeeel veel paracetamol, ellendig voelen en een antibioticakuur verder en ik voel me weer een stuk beter. Nog niet helemaal zoals het moet, mijn conditie is normaal al niet echt om te juichen en een longontsteking maakt dat helaas niet beter... Maar het gaat de goede kant uit, en gelukkig is het kerstvakantie zodat ik ook de kans heb om rustig aan te doen. Misschien ga ik vanavond zelfs wel weer eens een borduurwerkje oppakken...
Ten days, a LOT of paracetamol, misery and peniciline later and I feel a lot better again. Not totally like I should, my condition is never very good and pneumonia doesn't make that better... But I'm on the good path, and fortunally it is Christmas vacation which gives me the opportunity to take my rest. I even think I am going to stitch a bit tonight...

kerstvakantie?
Vandaag is de kerstvakantie begonnen, maar zo voelt het helaas nog niet. Na man en oudste dochter eerder deze week, ben ik nu ook geveld door de griep... De jongste dochter is ook snipverkouden dus ik hoop dat we met kerst weer allemaal beter zijn!
Today Christmas vacation started, but unfortunately it doesn't feel that way yet. Just like husband and eldest daughter earlier this week, I too am down with the flu... youngest daughter is having a bad cold too so I hope we are all feeling better again when Christmas comes!

Quiltboeken
Samen met de quilthobby kwam ook de passie voor quiltboeken: prachtige boeken vol inspiratie, heerlijk om door te bladeren bij een lekkere kop thee. Alleen de kaften al beloven veel moois. En dus heb ik sinds mijn eerste quiltles een leuke stapeltje boeken verzameld. Neem nou deze, Japanse Quiltmotieven van Susan Briscoe. Ik kocht het boek vandaag tijdens mijn lunchpauze, van een vergeten kadobon die ik nog in mijn tas tegenkwam (zo heeft het niet vaak opruimen van mijn tas af en toe nog een voordeeltje). Ik vond de kaft zó mooi, dat ik het kocht zonder het ingezien te hebben. Eenmaal thuis en uit het plastic werd ik niet teleurgesteld, wat staan er prachtige dingen in!

Mystery of the Month block #3
Eindelijk heb ik een blok af van de Designer Mystery Block of the Month club! Ik had al eerder blok 1 af, maar dat was op de naaimachine gedaan en dan lukt het toch niet zo netjes om de hoekjes mooi scherp te krijgen. Ik was er dus niet tevreden over, en heb besloten de blokken maar met de hand te gaan maken. Dat is een heerlijk werkje, en zo kwam het dat ik van het weekend blok 3 af had! Blok 4 is al een aardig eind onderweg ook.
Finally I finished a block of the Designer Myster Block of the Month club! Earlier I finished block #1, but I did the sewing by machine and it is much more difficult to get those sharp corners then. I wasn't satisfied with the result, and thus decided to make the blocks by hand. It is such a relaxing job, and so I finished block #3 this weekend, and block #4 is well on its way too!

Een tussendoortje
Deze week kregen we te horen dat Veerles juf haar baan heeft opgezegd om een wereldreis te gaan maken, vandaag is haar laatste dag op school. Dat betekende natuurlijk dat er een afscheidskadootje moest komen, maar het was natuurlijk wat kort dag. Gisteravond heb ik tussen de bedrijven door dus nog maar een handdoekje geborduurd. De foto is helaas erg slecht omdat ik hem bij kunstlicht maken moest, maar ik vond hem zo leuk geworden, ik moest hem even laten zien! Met dank aan Help mijn moeder borduurt! voor het patroon.

rustig aan...
Tijdens het schrijven van mijn vorige berichtje had ik pijn in mijn maagstreek, die met het uur erger en erger werd, tot het me bijna letterlijk de adem benam. Ik besloot dus woensdag maar een bezoekje aan de huisarts te brengen en die vertelde me dat ik twee gekneusde ribben had... waarschijnlijk het resultaat van een onbesuisde begroeting door mijn jongste dochter afgelopen zondag. Het moet dus op het moment maar rustig aan, gelukkig heb ik goede pijnstillers van de dokter gekregen, waardoor de pijn draaglijk is. Toch hebben we nog een fijne vakantie gehad, gisteren zijn we bijvoorbeeld lekker met de kinderen naar de speeltuin geweest.
Van de week kreeg ik het verzoek om een handdoek te maken, waar alleen een naam op moest komen en geen plaatje of iets dergelijks. Natuurlijk kan ik dat maken, maar het leek me nogal saai... Ik heb het op de volgende manier opgelost, ik hoop dat ze het leuk vinden!
Nog twee dagen vrij, en dan weer aan het werk. Morgen ga ik, naast de boodschappen en het huishouden, lekker nog wat handwerken en 's avonds ga ik een vriendin, die dezelfde borduurmachine als ik heeft gekocht, proberen wat uitleg te geven. Voor zondag is er slecht weer voorspeld, maar ik verveel me thuis nooit!
While writing my previous post I was in pain in the stomach region, pain that was getting worse and worse by the hour, until it almost literally took my breath away. I decided to visit my doctor on Wednesday and she told me I had two crushed ribs... probably the result of some reckless hugging by my youngest daughter last Sunday. So I have to take it slow at the moment, fortunately I got some good painkillers from my doctor, which make the pain bearable. We did have a good vacation though, yesterday we took the children to the playground and they had lots of fun.
This week I was asked if I could make a towel with only a name on it. Of course I can make that, but I thought it would be kinda dull... I decided to solve that problem like this, I hope they will like it!
Two more free days and then it is back to work again. Tomorrow, besides the groceries and housekeeping, I want to do some crafting, and in the evening I am going to show a friend, who bought the same embroidery machine as me, how to work with it. For Sunday the weather forecasts aren't that good, but I never get bored staying in!

herfstvakantie!
We genieten lekker van de herfstvakantie. Lekker niets moeten, heerlijk uitslapen, en alles doen op de tijd dat jij het wil... Vanochtend hebben we heerlijk twee uur gewandeld met de hond, vanmiddag doen we ieder ons eigen ding. Voor mij is dat quilten, ik heb vorige week op de handwerkbeurs een pakketje gekocht voor een klein quiltje voor de salontafel, en dat ben ik nu aan het doorquilten, ik ben al bijna halverwege. De kleuren passen perfect bij de meubels in de woonkamer!
En deze wilde ik jullie ook even laten zien: een handdoek gemaakt voor een vriendinnetje van mijn oudste dochter. Ze werd 9, en heeft een Schotse westie. Ik heb deze dus op een handdoek geborduurd, en gecombineerd met een applicatie, omdat het witte hondje anders wegviel tegen de witte achtergrond. Helaas heeft dochter niet echt van het feestje kunnen genieten, ze werd ziek en werd dus weer naar huis gebracht. Gelukkig viel het kadootje wel in goede aarde!
We are enjoying our autumn vacation over here. We don't have to do anything, we sleep late, we do everything on the time we want to... This morning we enjoyed a two hour walk with the dog, and this afternoon we alle are doing our own thing. For me that is quilting, last week I bought a little quilt kit at a craft expo, and I am quilting that now, I am almost halfway. It will be a tablecloth for the coffee table. The colors match our livingroom furniture perfectly!
And this I also want to show you: a towel made for my eldest daughters' friend. She celebrated her 9th birthday and owns a Scottish Westie, so I embroiedered that for her, combined with an application pattern, because otherwise the white dog wouldn't be visible on the white background. Unfortunately my daughter didn't get to enjoy the party, she got sick and was brought home again. But the gift was greatly appreciated!
